Pre-launch · first leaderboard in November 2026

When an AI agent builds the app, does it install you?

InstallRate runs real build prompts through Claude, GPT and Gemini and counts what they actually install: your product, or your competitor's. Then it shows you the prompts where you lose.

Free leaderboard for your category when it ships. First access to the $19 report. No spam.

Your next user may never see your homepage.

More and more software starts with “build me…” typed into Claude Code, Cursor or ChatGPT. The agent picks the auth library, the database and the email API, writes the install command, and moves on. The developer accepts the diff.

If the agent reaches for your competitor, you don't lose a click. You never had a chance. Your analytics won't show it, and your search rankings don't measure it.

How it works

  1. Name your product and three competitors

An npm or pip package, an API, or a hosted service. We match every alias and package name.

  2. We run real build tasks

5 to 10 prompts that a developer would actually type, × 3 models × 3 samples. The prompts never name a product.

  3. We read what gets installed

Install commands, package.json and imports, not vibes. A mention in passing counts separately from a real install.

  4. You see where you lose, and why

Install rate and mention rate per model, the exact prompts you lose with the model's own words, and 3 to 5 fixes.

What's in a report

One page you can forward to your team. Every number is dated and carries the model version and the sample size.

  • Install rate and mention rate, per model, for you and each competitor
  • The prompts you lose, with the answer that beat you
  • What the winner has that you don't: naming, docs, framework fit
  • Raw runs as JSONL, so you can check every number yourself

Questions

Which models do you test?

Claude, GPT and Gemini through their official APIs, with the exact model version written on every result. Headless coding-agent runs (Claude Code first) come later.

Isn't an API answer different from a real agent in an IDE?

Yes, and we say so. An agent also sees your repo, your files and sometimes the web. API runs are a cheaper, repeatable baseline that moves the same way. We publish the prompts and the raw answers, so you can judge for yourself.

How is this different from AI SEO and visibility tools?

Those track whether ChatGPT or Perplexity mention a brand in a chat answer. InstallRate tracks what a coding model actually installs when it writes code. That's the moment a devtool wins or loses a user.

How is it different from an agency audit?

Audits cost thousands and start with a call. InstallRate is self-serve: your number and the prompts you lose for $19, today.

Can I change my install rate?

Often, yes. Clear package naming, a quickstart that matches common stacks, and docs that models have read all help. The report shows what the winner does differently, so you know where to start.

What happens to my email?

We use it only to email you about InstallRate. We never share it. Ask at hello@installrate.com and we'll delete it. See the privacy note.
